Paladin Class

The Paladin Class is treated very differently in the world of Warj'Arune than it is in other D&D settings. In order to play a Paladin, you must be a servant of Heironeous or St. Cuthbert, and you will automatically be considered a member of the "Knights of the Last Stand", which is treated as an official Guild. There are no other Paladins. THE WORD "PALADIN" IS CONSIDERED OOC in our game, since the Paladin Class is now being treated as both a Prestige Class and a Guild. If you have levels of Paladin, you are considered by all to be a Knight Of The Last Stand.

Note that these restrictions also apply to the Prestige Paladin class variant listed in the d20 SRD.

See "The Paladin Class and the Knights of The Last Stand" for a more in depth description about this official Guild.

Note that in Warj'Arune, Knights may never have levels of Divine Champion and vice versa, as this doesn't fit into our storyline. Also, if a Knight or Divine Champion wishes to role-play a "fall-from-grace" story, and become a Blackguard, the player will need to seek out a DM and work it out with them. Likewise, a player with a Blackguard character who wishes to role-play a "redemption" story must seek out a DM as well and go through an arduous set of quests.

There are other perks given to Knights Of The Last Stand at various levels, which comprise Guild membership benefits and other storyline bonuses. You will have to discover these in-game, as they vary based on your current mission, region, etc.

Variant Class Paladins

If your DM plans on using the Paladin of Freedom, Slaughter or Tyranny variants from the d20 SRD, they can be integrated into the campaign world as follows:

Paladin of Freedom: PC must select a Chaotic Good deity (Corellon Larethian or Kord), and in all ways role-play their character as a Divine Champion of their deity, just with some slightly different class abilities.

NOTE: They are not allowed to take the Divine Champion prestige class, and they may ignore the standard multi-classing restrictions for Paladins.
.

Paladin of Slaughter: PC must select Erythnul as their deity, and they are automatically a member of the Order Of The Fallen, and in all ways role-play their character as a Blackguard of Erythnul, just with some slightly different class abilities.

NOTE: They are not allowed to take the Blackguard prestige class, and they may ignore the standard multi-classing restrictions for Paladins.
.

Paladin of Tyrrany: PC must select Hextor as their deity, and they are automatically a member of the Order Of The Fallen, and in all ways role-play their character as a Blackguard of Hextor, just with some slightly different class abilities.

NOTE: They are not allowed to take the Blackguard prestige class, and they may ignore the standard multi-classing restrictions for Paladins.
