Where was your character born?
North of the Ogrelands in the mighty Ordyllis, capital city of the Kobold empire.
Who raised him?
He was raised by several clutchmothers in the way of Kobolds, never knowing his real parents or feeling any filial affection towards them. Little does he know, he's actually one of the (many) illegitimate sons of the Penultimate Emperor and one of his legions of mistresses.
What was happening in the region when your character was growing up?
Growing up in the Ogrelands was no easy life. From his hatching days, Jack had to struggle to survive amid the clamor of his clutchmates and his older brethren. He learned very quickly to take whatever he needed to survive, for if he'd have waited for it to be given to him he'd have died of starvation long ago. Fighting, sneaking, hiding, climbing — he learned to do it all, whatever it took to keep his belly full and his hide safe. He was part of a pack of young kobolds that would terrorize their elders, sweeping through town and taking whatever food and shiny objects weren't nailed down or hidden safely out of sight, and even some that were. Jack was never the leader of the band — those were the ones that got their tail tips chopped in punishment! But Jack made sure he always got his share, and sometimes a little more, when the chips were down and the dust finally settled….
Does your character have any relatives?
Tons, and yet none. Jack wouldn't know if any of the thousands of kobolds in the capital are his relatives, specifically, but they are all in one sense — after all, the kobold sense of community is very strong and all work together for the greatness of the Empire. With that said, Jack possesses a silver sheen to his brown reptillian hide that marks him unmistakeably to those who know as the progeny of the emperor. There are quite a few kobold brats running around the streets of the Empire with such a sheen, but very few of such a bright silver color as his….
None in particular — Jack has had acquaintances throughout his life, but very few people thus far that he'd call 'friends' aside from a few close members of his old gang. Even those were more associates than anything.
What does your character typically look like?
Jack stands a lofty (for Kobolds) three feet two inches, and weighs all of 38 pounds. A healthy kobold in the prime of his life, Jack sports greenish brown reptillian skin with a noticeable silvery sheen to it. His eyes gleam a deep red when he opens them fully, but most often they're closed almost to slits. He's got several earrings in both ears and his fingers are covered in cheap copper jewelry.
What are your character’s immediate goals? What would he like to do in the coming year?
Jack was … forcibly sent forth on a "scouting" mission for the Penultimate Empire. The truth was that as he had gotten older he began causing more and more trouble in the capital with his band of kobold hooligans and miscreants. They stole, they soiled, they generally caused quite the ruckus. Such things are not long tolerated in the capital, but the kobold magistrates are clever. When he was finally apprehended they chose not to imprison or execute Jack — rather they would send him forth into the outside world, a scout, a journeyman, an exile. Perhaps he would return someday with news or something else of merit. If not … things would go on well enough, and nobody would shed too many tears in his absence.
Crossing the rift, Jack came into the human lands and took the name he has come to love so well. Jack has been in the human lands for two years now, and his goals are fairly straightforward — food, money, and shelter. He currently makes his living taking the ocassional scouting job or riding drogue for the odd caravan that will accept a kobold into it's employ. He seeks any sort of service that catches his interest and looks as if it will pay well, even passing a two week stint as a gem miner in Rudik's pass before he was booted out on suspicion pocketing the goods. If only he'd gotten a few more gems before the foreman got suspicious….
What are his long-term goals?
Jack's first and foremost goal is always to look out for number one. Gold, platinum, gems — these are the things he considers worthy of notice. Everything else is just details. With that said, Jack would certainly like to return home to the Penultimate Empire someday, and for that he'll need either great wealth, great reknown, or some combination of the two. He intends to do what he can to make his mark on the world so that when he does return, they will find him worthy. On the other hand, these humans, dwarves, and elves are fairly interesting folk, and they have much to steal. He may just make his life in the human lands and never go home. But that's all far in the future — right now he needs to make his fortune!
What type of person would be his ideal mate?
An extremely well off kobold mistress who would lavish her care, attention, and most of all funds on him to the point of excess. It would help if she were very stupid and perhaps often away on business so he could spend her gold freely.
Who is his patron deity? Is he a devout worshiper?
Jack always tips his hat to Kurtulmak for all that the god has done for the kobold people. With that said, Jack's real affections lie closer to Olidamarra than anywhere else. Her general comic outlook on life appeals to him, and he certainly loves causing trouble whereever he can.
Is he a devout member of any nonreligious cause?
Jack is a nominal member of the Penultimate Empire, but he was never terribly attached to the nation of his birth, nor does he feel any pressing need to return. Aside from that he has no worldy ties thus far.
Is there any race, creed, alignment, religion or the like against which he is strongly prejudiced?
Like any kobold, Jack has a particular hatred of ogres. Ogres compete naturally with the kobolds for land in the Ogrelands, and many is the kobold who was crushed under an ogre's club or throttled to death by their massive, meaty fists. Of course, there are even more Ogres who have died to kobold spears or rocks dropped from on high (in the case of the kobold dragoons), but that's neither here nor there.
What is his greatest fear?
Jack is damn near fearless. Years of living a hardscrabble life where he had to constantly take chances to get by topped by years of surviving where others failed have lead to his being utterly carefree and confident in his own abilities. If he feared anything it would be boredom and starvation in equal measure. He's known in the human lands as "Jack the Kami' for being so utterly wreckless as to be almost suicidal in the fights he seems to constantly get into. It doesn't help that most humans tend to find kobold baiting an interesting sport — Jack doesn't take that well.
What is the one task he absolutely refuses to do?
Beg. Jack will ask for what he wants, and - if not freely given, he'll seek a way to take it.
What is your character’s motto or favorite saying?
"You don't know Jack! But you will!" (attacks)
What is his favorite color?
Describe what he would wear if money were no object?
Most likely some sort of gold-encrusted robe. Jack likes the bling.
What is his favorite food? Drink?
Jack's favorite food is the most expensive the menu, obtained for free. Usually well-charred beef suits him well.
What is his favorite animal?
Jack has always been fascinated by the dragons whose blood runs in his veins, if indeed you can call them animals. Jack wouldn't know one way or the other.
What habits of his friends annoy him most?
Jack has very few friends, but in the case the few people that he tolerates, nothing annoys him more than kobold bashing. He's proud of his kobold heritage, and not afraid to challenge anyone who questions it.

Here lies Jack, the absurdly crazy kobold. He leaped for the stars, and fell into the dragon's mouth. A fitting end.
What would be his job in modern society?
